In an effort to better serve all areas and groups of Aggies within Tarrant County, the Board has established a policy for the creation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within the Fort Worth/Tarrant County A&M Club. The purpose of a SIG is to promote a specific area (i.e., city or section) of Aggies within Tarrant County or a specific interest (i.e., employment, majors, community service) within the Club's membership. We're hoping to have such SIGs as the "Aggie Engineers", the "Aggie Educators, the NE Tarrant County Aggies", etc!
SIGs will develop action plans for their own Aggie activities (which will supplement the Club's activities/events) and will report to our Board through our Vice President of Activities. If you are interested in learning more about the SIGs and/or want to volunteer to lead a SIG, please contact Cara Ellison today. We're excited about the possibilities these SIGs will allow our Club -- the opportunities to increase membership and increase our scholarship fundraising capabilities!
SIG Policies
At the discretion of the Fort Worth / Tarrant County A&M Club's Board of Directors, "Special Interest Groups" (SIGs) may be organized within the Fort Worth / Tarrant County A&M Club. The purpose of a SIG is to promote a specific area (i.e. city or section) of Aggies within Tarrant County or a specific interest (e.g. employment, majors, community service) within the Club's membership.
All SIGs will adhere to the following policies:
- Each SIG organized under the Fort Worth/Tarrant County A&M Club will report to the Fort Worth/Tarrant County A&M Club Past President. The Past President will represent each SIG at club board meetings.
- A SIG lead will be appointed by the President of the FW/TC A&M Club, or at the SIG's option, may elect a SIG lead. If a SIG lead is elected, the elected SIG lead must be ratified by a majority of the Board of Directors. A SIG chairman may be removed by the Board of Directors for failure to comply with these SIG policies.
- All activities and plans of the SIG must be communicated, coordinated, and approved with the Past President and the corresponding Fort Worth/Tarrant County A&M Club officer or committee.
- In general, SIG events should not be planned that conflict with the dates of other Club events, or duplicate any major Club events.
- All communications are to be conducted through the FW/TC A&M Club newsletter, FW/TC A&M Club website or other medium approved by the FW/TC A&M Club Vice President of Public Relations and President. SIGs will NOT have independent websites, but may post information of activities through the FW/TC A&M Club website and Club emailers (following the Club's policies for posting information). Web pages dedicated to specific SIG's within the FW/TC A&M Club's website are permissible.
- All monies raised by SIGs via membership, donations, and other methods will be sent to the FW/TC A&M Club. If money is raised by a SIG in addition to membership, and it is the donor's specific intent that the money is to be used for a specific SIG activity(s), that money will be held in the general FW/TC A&M Club account, but will separated as SIG-specific line item on the FW/TC A&M Club balance sheet. Those funds may be drawn on for SIG activities.
- A SIG may be withdrawn by the Club's Board of Directors for failure to comply with policies and/or lack of activities/interest.
